Teachers are now reaching out to studetns with a new class of Blogs. Blogs provide a powerful motivator to get students to write and reflect in the classroom. It is great how teachers are using Blogs now in different ways. They use Blogs to post homework assignments or create online journals for the students to write in. Blogging is becoming more popular in the classroom as each year goes by and before we know it Blogging is going to take over the classroom by storm.
Some people get education Blogging confused with Myspace and other websites but acutaully these two things are nothing alike. Unlike Myspace the Blogging in the classroom is closely monitored and only used for academic use. Blogging does not distract students but yet it gives them an opportunity to express themselves freely. Not only is Blogging taking over the classroom but so is Web 2.0. Tons of classrooms now each have computers for each student and no longer are students using pencil and paper but rather using thier laptops to take notes daily and take quizes and test online. The classrooms are finally keeping up with todays technology.
I don’t think that schools are falling behing in the technology, but yet they are just trying to keep up with all the changes going on in the classroom. Now almost every student has access to their own computer and more and more educators are now using programs such as moodle and quia to post assingnments and use it as a means for blogs and test taking. Not only that but podcasting is taking over the classrooms as well.
One awesome website for teachers and technology is Altec. The site provieds tools for the teachers to explore and professional development for educators. Provides a 4teachers.org that helps educators integrate technology into the classroom by offering free online tools and resources including ready to use web lessons, quizzes, rubrics, and classroom calendars.
